So I was just relaxing, catching up on some of that sweet Tony from Hack the Movies action that I’ve missed. In this particular episode, he and his co-host are talking about a Godzilla children’s book. It was whatever. I was interested enough to Google the title. That’s as much as I can say about it.
But then from 22:00 to the end of the video, he’s just talking about some reviews that I did of previous Godzilla podcasts. Half of the fucking video is him talking about me. He literally reads the reviews. These reviews:

They seem to be at pains to be offended by stuff. For example, I mentioned that nobody appears on screen for the podcast. It wasn’t a criticism, just stating a fact.
And they get offended at my use of the word “female”. I used this term to include girls as well as women. But this Johanna woman really gets offended. Apparently. Then later, they get offended by my use of the word “woman”.
They don’t know what those little MUSCLE figures are so they get offended by that.
They didn’t really get my reference to Judy Blume. This also causes offence.
Then they get offended by me saying that Johanna only read some obscure Godzilla comic book for the purposes of the video. But in the very next sentence, I say that I don’t expect a Godzilla fan to consume every obscure piece of Godzilla media. So then they get offended by that.
So it starts with, “Duh, of course I only read it for the podcast.” Then they get to the next sentence and they get offended by the complete opposite. “Oh, I really enjoy reading every obscure piece of Godzilla media.”
But all things considered, he was fairly complimentary. Said that he enjoys my work. It’s funny stuff. Great.
I notice that this video was posted on 10 October. That was the same day that I happened to upload a review of Hack the Living Dead or whatever. That’s a crazy coincidence.

My review of that video was largely complimentary. I was even complimentary to Johanna, who appears in the video. Why wouldn’t I be? These are honest reviews. There’s no agenda. I’m not going out looking to shit on things. If a video is good, I’m happy to say so.
The idea that this blog is somehow anti-women is farcical. Nothing could be further from the truth. I want women to produce good content about video games or Godzilla or whatever they’re interested in.
What I don’t want is shit content and frauds.
Is content produced by women above criticism?
Erin should not be making videos about video games. Neither should Madam Fomo. These are frauds and swindlers.
Everyone else: go nuts. Make all the videos you want. But put the work in. Do something interesting. Create something of value. Make something that people would actually want to watch.
And if you can’t do that, do something else with your time. There’s no shame in it. Youtube isn’t for everyone. There’s a world of opportunity out there.
Anyway, I’m watching this video where Tony is just reading my review and I’m thinking, “Who gives a fuck? Who exactly is this for? Is this going to in any way increase interest in your videos?”
And Ryan comes in at one point and Tony warns him that I’m going to write about Ryan next.
The whole thing…it’s weird and unprofessional.
And he knows this on some level because he skips over parts in the review where I talk about James Rolfe.
But whatever. There’s fucking 800 views after a month. And I did get a boost in traffic that day. Some of that big Hack the Movies rub. So thanks for sending those ten people over.
Now you’re famous dude. one of the Screenslobs who is taking apart Cinemassacre brick by brick gave you props!!!
I never had any problem with them. The videos on Cinemassacre are bad but it's James' fault. He's completely checked out.
