Who the fuck goes to these things? I’ve been looking up videos online.
Here’s one from JOHN RIGGS.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbTYhO_ECAU
He goes around the vendor floor. People are selling shit. I can understand that. I guess. I used to go to comic book conventions as a kid. And I went to some kind of Star Trek convention once as a kid. It was a similar thing. People are selling shit.
But in this John Riggs video, these don’t appear to be children. These are overwhelmingly men. Single men. And a handful of large women.
Anyway, that part I don’t really have an issue with. I get it. You want to buy some shit, maybe they have some raffles, fine. A good time is had by all. Consumerism.
It’s the panels that I don’t get. Who would want to see “YOUTUBERS”? It’s insane. Here’s an example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0FHgU288XA
That guy with the tinted hair is creepy as fuck. There seem to be a large percentage of women and girls who approach the table to ask questions and he always makes a comment.
Then you have a few bull dyke lesbian lumberjacks on the panel. They’re all part of this channel, I think. I never even fucking heard of it. DAGames.
8:30 – Some 12 year old girl asks about “spicy memes”.
I mean come on. People are paying money for this?
17:00 – Some woman asks what the first instrument he learned to play was.
What is this channel?
They seem to do videos on games…but also do like…music videos? That would explain the large percentage of women in the audience. Well…kind of. You can be a groupie for Rammstein or you can be a groupie for some fucking Youtuber who presumably does “comedy” songs.
https://youtube.fandom.com/wiki/DAGames
That mostly just talks about this guy’s hair. And this is what passes for a sexy guy these days? Maybe by fucking Youtube standards.
Oh god. Good tastes prevents me from time-stamping this but a very large woman also asks a question. An inane question, of course.
So anyway, people are paying for this. Right? People are paying to listen to a question and answer session by DAGames. Whoever they are. 1.6 million subscribers so somebody must know them.
But this was boring as fuck. The questions were boring. The answers were boring. I don’t want to watch these fucking charmless douchebags. I don’t even know who they are.
At the big comic conventions, at least in my youth, they would advertise comic book artists and writers who would be in attendance. Some kind of meet and greet, presumably. Not a panel. Pay twenty bucks to get an autograph from Rob Liefeld or whoever. I can understand that. These are people who are actually well known. At least in the world of comic books.
I mean…okay, maybe this DAGames crew are reasonably well known. They have a lot of subscribers. But there are also people like JOHN RIGGS doing these panels. Or Bobdunga. Or Cannot Be Entertaining. 20,000 subscribers? 50,000 subscribers? No, that’s not good enough. Who wants to see these people?
Wrestling conventions where you can get your picture taken with the Warlord or Lanny Poffo or Mark Henry. I can understand that. But fucking 8 Bit Eric? Or Joe from Same Name Different Game?
Or going to a Star Trek convention and listening to a Brent Spiner panel where he talks about his recent run on Broadway or being able to ask William Shatner what the Tribbles were made out of. I get it. That makes total sense. But a panel where fucking Pelvic Gamer and some other nobody talks shit about your “waifu”? What the fuck? Who would want to see that? Who would PAY to see that?
So then I thought, “These are video game conventions. Why don’t they get people in the industry to do panels instead of these fucking Z-list Youtubers?”
Well, that happens too.

Women in Video Games panel at DragonCon.
The first “woman” is a fucking dude.
Then there’s a fucking “community manager” who just graduated last fall. Whoopdeedoo. She’s a fucking moderator on a forum.
And I never even heard of these fucking companies. I mean, never mind that I never heard of the individual people, I never even heard of the COMPANIES.
56 fucking views.
If they could get Gabe Newell or John Carmack or somebody, fine. Somebody in the industry. Doesn’t even have to be somebody well-known in the industry. Just somebody who did stuff and can give an interesting presentation. Give some insights into how a game gets made.
Instead, we get Stephanie the receptionist. This is a fucking joke.
Who would pay for any of this? Who would go even if it were free? These panels are awful. I defy anyone to watch this:

I’m not going to sit through that shit. I would rather do anything else. And you’re surrounded by nerds. You can imagine the smell. Desperation just hanging in the air. Some fat chick dressed as a video game character who you’ve never heard of. And the RGBeast panel starts in 15 minutes. Twenty bucks for this. There is no way.
Yeah that was definitly a woman. And the rest… idk man. I feel like companies nowadays are forced to hire women and minorities to appear like they aren't racist. But to me thats always been kinda racist and sexist to me in itself. Like I know we want to have the input of many but if i owned a company shouldn't I be able to staff it with the best employees available regardless of sex or race? Like leave that part out if the process and then whomever gets hired in merit alone gets the job. There are some femenist companies that only hire women and somehow thats fine. I guess I dont give a fuck. But who are these people? And why should anyone care? I was thw 58th viewer. Your daughter and her friends are obviously not watching this to be given aspirations of becoming just like one of them. As far as I'm concerned shit like this is as bad as nepotism. Bah whatever. Bottom line. I dont care and its hilarious its gotten so few views.
You mean it was definitely a man. I hope. And yeah, not many women are interested in IT. Or video games. Who are the great female game developers? If it's a problem with not getting hired, do it independently so many guys do who are passionate about making video games. No, there's none.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_women_in_the_video_game_industryOh, actually a big bull dyke made a BDSM indy game called Mighty Jill Off. I stand corrected. The rest of this (short) list are people you've never heard of, games you've never heard of, companies you've never heard of, people with seemingly minor contributions to the industry, a fair number of composers, and Lori Cole and Roberta Williams who just happened to be married to video game developers and worked alongside their husbands on these games.
