'No kissing': Amsterdam's red light district reopens after coronavirus shutdown

It’s an interesting article about how prostitutes in Amsterdam were hit hard by coronavirus.  Since a lot of them are immigrants, they went back to their native countries but now that they’re re-opening the Red Light District in Amsterdam, they’re starting to come back.

Restrictions are in place but you don’t need to wear masks.

One of the prostitutes said, “After the customer leaves the room, we’re going to disinfect everything he might have touched, bed, sink, the toilet if he used the toilet, the doorknobs, everything”.

It reminds me of a grocery store I went to in the early days of this panic.  There was a guy on one of those big industrial…washing…things, just going around and around in circles in front of the cash registers.  He would just travel along like a six foot area over and over and over again.  What the fuck did people think was going to happen?  And why are people still scared of it?

The article continues:

“But she said that sex workers were already well versed in hygiene, adding: ‘We already dealt with much bigger diseases than corona.'”

Anyway, maybe this is why Madam Fomo seemed so petrified of people not being six feet apart (even though they clearly were quite far apart from each other) and complaining about “social distancing” generally and people not wearing masks, and so forth.  In her line of work, she has to be very vigilant about diseases.

Here’s a less interesting article:

It contends that the wearing of masks is “largely settled”, in spite of the fact that even the article they linked to is more nuanced than that.

It then goes on to portray people who don’t want to wear masks as right-wing idiots, who may or may not be religious, and who call everyone “communists”.

I was on the train today, the first time since this panic, and apparently it’s a rule now that you have to wear masks on the trains.  But I’d say that 60% of the passengers weren’t wearing masks.  I sure as fuck wasn’t.

You don’t have to be some Trump-supporting idiot afraid of “communists” under your bed in order to be opposed to the compulsory wearing of masks.

First of all, it doesn’t do shit.  If it stops disease, why weren’t we doing it already?  Why was every Western medical professional laughing at these Japanese people who wear masks in public and saying that it’s worthless?  Why has the advice suddenly changed to the complete opposite?

Muslim women wearing burkas.  People HATED that shit.  Laws were passed to ban it.  “In Western societies, it’s expected that we see your face.”  That was the argument, however stupid it was.

But now it’s the exact opposite.  Why?  Why were burkas so heavily attacked by the Western media and governments for so long but now these same Western media and governments are telling you to cover your face?

Has there been any study done on burka wearing women to determine if they’re healthier than the non-burka-wearing population?  They’re wearing a mask 24/7, they must be the picture of health.  Or, much more likely, it doesn’t do shit.

If they were saying to wear medical grade masks, I might find this mask advice plausible.  But they’re saying to wear ANYTHING.  Wear homemade masks.  Turn your underpants into a mask.  That’s going to stop coronavirus.  It’s fucking ridiculous.

Can’t we just cover our mouth when we cough or sneeze?  That seemed to be working pretty good for a few decades or centuries.  No, now we have to sneeze into a homemade underpants mask and walk around with snot smeared all over our face as a result.  Who comes up with this shit?

It reminds me of the US government advice to seal your windows with tape to prevent…I don’t even remember.  And then a short while later, they had to retract this advice because people would suffocate.  It was something to do with 9/11.

Oh, here it is:

https://edition.cnn.com/2003/US/02/11/emergency.supplies/

What’s the panic about anyway?  A virus with a 0.01% mortality rate?  Were people freaking out about the flu, which infects far more people every year and has at least as high a mortality rate?  How many people die in the bathtub every year?  Do we have to get rid of bathtubs?  Shower cubicles only?

What’s the agenda behind this?  And why do so many people buy into it?

I guess it’s the same as people who buy into any media outrage.  Fucking loads of people do it, no matter how preposterous.

I remember reading about a rape case and the media reported that the woman lied.  And I read the comments underneath and it was all, “Justice for men!  You can’t bring fake rape allegations!  This is an outrage.”

Then a few weeks later, same case, it turns out that the woman didn’t lie and the perpetrators were found guilty.  Then the comments were all, “Bring back hanging!  I hope those rapists get sodomised in prison!”

It illustrates how easily manipulated people are by the media.  There’s no critical thinking.  People just accept whatever is written and go along with it.

So if Osama Bin Laden was killed and thrown off a ship into the middle of the ocean, with no pictures, no independent witnesses present, well, that’s just what happened.  Everyone buys it.

If the media tells you to stay home because there’s some evil new virus that kills fewer people than the flu, people do it.  No questions asked.  “Well, I guess we better stay inside then.  And only go out if necessary.  And always wear our underpants mask.  And stay six feet away.  We wouldn’t want to catch a cold.”

Madam Fomo tells you that she just got a job developing a comic book with a publisher in New York.  “Cool.  Can’t wait to see it.  It’s going to be awesome.  You’re a tremendous writer.”

There are a lot of idiots out there.  And they’re easy to spot now.  They’re the ones wearing masks.
